Sponsored by Ecolab, the Thad and Alice Eure Ambassador of Hospitality Award is the premier award bestowed by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (NRAEF) to a person who shows extraordinary achievement and exemplary leadership in the restaurant and hospitality industry. The recipient reflects the NRAEF’s mission and uses his/her leadership to enhance the stature of the industry through community service and philanthropy. The award is named after Thad and Alice Eure, who generously gave their time and resources to serve their community and the hospitality industry.

Hospitality is Roz Mallet’s passion. Over her 40-year career, she has worked in almost every area of the foodservice and hospitality industry, from her first job in college as a cashier, through positions such as assistant manager, training supervisor and roles in human resources, to Chief Operating Officer of La Madeleine. Over the years, Roz has emerged as a tireless advocate for the industry and earned broad recognition for her innovation, strategic vision, financial and organizational leadership, building sustainable talent pipelines, and unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in her community.

After serving as President and CEO of Caribou Coffee in 2006, Roz made the switch to the entrepreneurial side of business by launching her own franchise operating company, PhaseNext Hospitality. As President and CEO, Roz grew her company through development of non-traditional venues.

She took a major step in her advocacy for the industry when she joined the National Restaurant Association Board in 2004 and continues to contribute to the Association’s success to this day. She was elected to the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation board in 2006, elected National Restaurant Association Treasurer in 2010, the Association’s Vice Chair in 2011, and Chair in 2012. She also serves on the boards of Northcott Hospitality, Share Our Strength, TDn2K and Visit Dallas. Roz was recognized in 2008 by the Women’s Foodservice Forum with its Trailblazer Award for her work to advance women leaders across the industry.

Roz is a leader and role model. Her tremendous talent, high standards, values and strong focus on diversity and inclusion make her an advocate and inspiration for people from all backgrounds building a future in restaurants.
